As you know, we at Staples Golf speak with Municipal golf stakeholders from coast to coast on a regular basis, and we’d like to share our insights in what we hope will be an enlightening exercise.
One of the things we’ve spent very little time discussing in our Reading the Green newsletter these past few years, but which has huge implications for hundreds of municipal golf courses, is how your golf course is managed.
Our advice to municipal stakeholders is to understand every single facility's “long-game” sooner than later, and get out in front of inevitable short-comings.
The conventionalists tell us these kind of PGA Tour events surely have an impact on golfers’ interest in the game, but this got me thinking… How important are they to our industry, and at what cost? Do we really need them to “grow the game”?
