Staples Golf Design Quarterly
Notes, thoughts, and lessons learned- a quarterly discussion of the golf design business.
"Which hole will be our signature?" - a question members ask us frequently in our design process. While it is rarely our intent to create a specific "signature" hole, this edition of the SGDQ will lay out the principles we believe make for a signature golf experience... 18 holes through!
This holiday season came with another reason to celebrate... the 20th year of Staples Golf Design!! It's been an incredible journey with so many great memories, and this issue of the SGDQ will take you through the most memorable milestones.
The Template holes popularized by C.B. MacDonald and Seth Raynor have inspired some of the most strategic and fun experiences in golf - including our recent design for The Match at PGA National. This issue of the SGDQ digs into the origin or these holes, their continued relevance in course design, and our take on our very own "Template" hole. Cheers, C.B.!
From concept drawings to design communication to 3D rendering, great golf design is an art at all stages of the process! This edition of the SGDQ highlights some of the most recent art coming out of our office, as well as our thoughts on how it will continue evolve with the future of the industry.
The weather is getting colder, but these takes are toasty! In this edition of the Staples Golf Design Quarterly, we have assembled a list of 23 goals, predictions, and life aspirations for Andy, the firm, and the golf industry at large looking into 2023 (and beyond).
