Stay Sane, Muni Golf!
During these uncertain times however, we wanted to send just a brief email this quarter with two resources in connection with Covid-19.
Community Golf Fan,
We’re back at again with our Reading the Green newsletter here in 2020!
During these uncertain times however, we wanted to send just a brief email this quarter with two resources in connection with Covid-19; one pertains to communicating with staff, and the other pertains to golf. We'll also share with you what we're seeing in the Municipal golf sector as of right now.
Our first resource for you comes from You Exec, a top-notch presentation platform for Power Point and Google Sheets. They’re giving away a free template for communicating to your staff any changes in procedures, or however you see fit to use it. This template would normally cost $50-$100. Click here to review and download.
The second resource comes from GolfDigest on the impacts of playing golf right now. This is a good resource for keeping golfers confident that golf is a no-to-low risk hobby to maintain as long as a few precautions are met, which the article discusses. Click here to read.
Lastly, we'd like to share with you what Staples Golf is seeing right now in the Municipal Golf sector.
- MOST golf facilities are still operating business as usual, with increased safety precautions.
- Some golf facilities are closing their clubhouse but are keeping the golf course open to walkers, or personal carts.
- Some golf facilities are closing their entire facility, based on their age demographics, or state and local executive orders.
- Some golf facilities are pulling the trigger on smaller improvement projects now that facility is less busy.
Regardless of the approach your golf facility decides to take, the underlying takeaway to remember is, this issue will pass, and it’s ok to continue pressing forward to make our courses more profitable and playable for the future.
Until next time, please take care of yourself and each other!
Andy Staples, ASGCA
