Joshua Goeden, MLA, joined the Staples Golf Design team as a Design & Marketing associate in 2021. A recent graduate of the University of Georgia’s MLA program, he brings a firm knowledge of landscape design processes, design theory, sustainable practice, and client engagement— all with an emphasis on classic golf architecture.
Josh has a keen interest in creating affordable, accessible, and community-focused golf opportunities through outside-the-box design solutions. These values are embodied in his thesis, A Co-Design Framework for Public Golf Design, which researched how participatory design could be integrated into the golf design process.
As the firm’s “utility player”, he handles many aspects of our production including bid responses, quarterly newsletters, stakeholder discussions, graphics and renderings, and drone photography (FAA P107 certified). He also has past work experience in both golf maintenance and shovel-in-hand construction that help bring a balance of inspired creativity and first-hand practicality to the design process.
Josh received his Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia in 2021, and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from South Dakota State University in 2019.
